Meeke and O’Sullivan Take Ceredigion Glory as BRC Title Race Tightens

Kris Meeke and Noel O’Sullivan produced a superb performance on the JDS Machinery Rali Ceredigion, fighting their way to victory after a demanding three-day battle across some of the fastest and most technical closed-road stages in West Wales.

For Meeke, the win carried extra significance. It marked his first victory on home soil since 2007 and came during an event he thoroughly enjoyed. The Northern Irishman was full of praise for the quality of the Welsh stages, which provided a varied and challenging test throughout the weekend.

Meeke also paid tribute to the people and equipment behind the result, highlighting the work of his team and the performance of the car. He praised the Michelin tyres for giving him the confidence and consistency required to push hard, with every element of the package working together when it mattered most.

Behind the winners, Teemu Suninen and Antti Haapala took second place. Although they were unable to challenge Meeke for victory, the Finnish pairing had plenty to celebrate as their result secured the FIA European Rally Championship title.

The weekend was equally significant for the British Rally Championship, with two rounds contested as part of the Ceredigion event. Max McRae and Cameron Fair claimed victory in round four, while Meirion Evans and Dale Furniss topped the results in round five.

Osian Pryce and James Morgan remained firmly in the championship fight after taking second place across the opening two days and demonstrating impressive pace. Their challenge came to an unfortunate end on Sunday when gearbox problems forced them into retirement.

The championship now heads towards its final showdown with everything still to play for. McRae, Evans and Pryce remain separated by just two points, setting up a dramatic finale on next month’s Cambrian Rally.

In the National Rally, Rhys Wyn Davies and Gerwyn James delivered a dominant performance in their Welsh-built Darrian GTR+. The pair finished almost two minutes ahead of Dylan Davies and Mark Glennerster in their Skoda Fabia R5. Ian Bainbridge and Ross Whittock claimed third position in their Toyota GR Yaris Rally2, finishing 46 seconds behind the runners-up.

With the European title decided but the British Rally Championship still wide open, all eyes now turn to the Cambrian Rally, where the 2026 BRC champion will finally be crowned.
